Pieology Gluten Free Menu

Gluten Free Pizza at Pieology

Pieology is a pizza restaurant that reminds me of a Subway or Chipotle. You pick your pizza and go down the assembly line while they craft the perfect pizza pie. While Pieology was new to me, I was surprised to learn they have over 25 locations nationwide!

The Pieology Gluten Free Menu has exactly what you would want – Pizza! You can create your own pizza using a gluten free crust. Although they do state the following warning on the Pieology gluten free menu:

* Although our crust is made with gluten-free ingredients, we cannot guarantee that our pizza is 100% free of gluten as there is always a possibility of trace amounts crossing over from other kitchen areas and suppliers’ ingredients changing. Please consider this when ordering from our menu.

When I ordered the gluten free crust, I was asked if it was a “preference” or “allergy.” When I said allergy, the man behind the counter immediately took off his current gloves, changed into new ones, and went into the kitchen to get a special type of pizza pan that they must only use for their gluten free customers. I proceeded down the assembly line like a normal customer adding mozzarella, pepperoni, green peppers, and jalepenos.

Then they put the pizza in a big wood burning oven. They put a special marking stick in my pizza to note that it was gluten free and made sure to put the gluten free pizza on the opposite side of the oven from the other pizzas. Note: If you are celiac beware – there could be cross contamination in the oven or in general just because it’s a pizza place and loaded with pizza dough that is not gluten free!

After 7-8 minutes, my gluten free pizza came out of the oven looking fantastic. And it tasted great, too!

I was a huge fan of the Pieology Gluten Free Menu and the extra precaution the staff took when handling my gluten free pizza. I will definitely be going back again!

Domino’s Pizza – Gluten Free Menu

Domino’s Pizza, it’s quick, it’s easy, it’s cheap. But, is it gluten free friendly? The short answer is no. It’s made in kitchens where cross contamination is highly likely, and with shared equipment.

Domino's Pizza - Gluten Free on the Town

From Domino’s own site -

“Who should eat Domino’s Gluten Free Crust?

Domino’s Pizza does not give medical advice. Please contact your physician if you have concerns about consuming this product, knowing the following:

Pizzas made with Gluten Free Crust are made in a common kitchen. We do not have a separate area in our kitchens that are guaranteed free from gluten.

While the Gluten Free Crust is certified to be free of gluten, the pizzas made with the Gluten Free Crust use the same ingredients and utensils as all of our other pizzas.”

If you are simply avoiding gluten because you prefer to, Domino’s may be worth the risk, but, if you have Celiac’s or any type of sensitivity to gluten, it’s best to skip it all together.
