Chick Fil A Gluten Free MenuSometimes I’m in the mood for some good waffle fries.  As a Celiac, getting gluten-free fries is not always easy. Often restaurants do not have a dedicated fryer for fries, instead, fries share the fryer with other breaded, fried foods.

Chick-Fil-A has a dedicated fryer for just their waffle fries!  Woohoo! It’s my “go to” place for fast food.  When you order, you still need to specify that you require gluten-free.  The staff was knowledgeable about cross-contamination.  They change gloves and make sure the grilling surface is clear of any potential gluten contamination.

They have a good list of gluten-free options from the Chick Fil A gluten free menu.  Here are some of the choices:

  • Grilled chicken breast
  • Grilled chicken nuggets
  • Garden salad
  • Chicken and fruit salad
  • Fruit cup
  • Cole slaw
  • Waffle fries
  • Hash browns
  • Yogurt (without the topping)

Most of the sauces and dressings are gluten-free, too!

Their grilled chicken is very tasty.  While they do not have a gluten-free bun, I either go after their grilled chicken breast or the grilled chicken nuggets. I prefer the Chick-Fil-A sauce. It has a slight sweetness and barbecue flavor and taste great with the chicken and the fries.  As a meal, I like to mix the fries and chicken together and drizzle some of the sauce on it.

I think we all have a food weakness—French fries! Chick-Fil-A is everywhere.  Whenever I’m out and need a bite to eat, I can always rely on Chick-Fil-A to show up on my Find Me Gluten Free app. Nothing like some good waffle fries!

It’s not often that I get a dinner date night with my husband since we both travel for work and get all caught up with family life. Actually, I couldn’t tell you the last time we went out to dinner for a date. So, we were excited to finally take the opportunity to enjoy dinner. I even wore a skirt and makeup for the occasion! Woohoo!  Date night!

We decided to go to the Melting Pot for some relaxing fondue and to improve our fondue skills.  Friends of ours introduced us to the fondue phenomena as we hosted a fondue party at our house.  We were rookies—cooking the meat ahead of time. It has since been an outgoing joke among us with playful banter.

The Melting Pot is a place that you really need to make reservations. We went for Saturday dinner, but the only times available were 4pm or after 9pm. We chose the 4:30 slot so that we can still get home at reasonable time and relax for the rest of the evening.

We had a chance to view the Melting Pot gluten free menu online, which included a great variety of gluten free offerings—even gluten free bread for the cheese fondue course!

If you have Celiac Disease or are severely gluten intolerant, it’s really important that your group also orders from the Melting Pot gluten free menu. The table shares the fondue pot, so dipping a gluten item into the pot will contaminate the fondue.

The Melting Pot gluten free menu includes a variety of course offerings. The first course is a cheese fondue with gluten free bread and raw vegetables. There are different cheese variations to choose.  For gluten free, you can choose from:

  • Cheddar
  • Spinach and Artichoke
  • Classic Alpine

We opted for the Spinach and Artichoke, which was so tasty! It had the right amount of garlic too! The gluten free bread was quite good with the fondue. I was surprised in how it stayed intact and didn’t fall apart in the fondue.

The second course is salad. There are three salads to choose:

  • Caesar (no croutons)
  • The Melting Pot House Salad (you can choose between the Peppercorn Ranch Dressing or the sweet and tangy house dressing, but remember, no croutons!)
  • California (baby salad greens, tomatoes, candied pecans and Gorgonzola cheese with Raspberry Black Walnut Vinaigrette)

My husband and I decided to be rebels and forgo the salad, but don’t tell our children we skipped our greens!

The entrée course had a great gluten free selection! Each entrée came with seasonal vegetables and their dipping sauces.

  • Chicken breast
  •  Honey Orange Duck Breast
  • Salmon
  • Filet Mignon
  • Andouille Sausage
  • Pacific White Shrimp
  • Memphis-Style BBQ Pork Medallion
  • Angus Beef
  • Sesame-Crusted Ahi Tuna
  • Good Earth Vegetarian—Edamame or onion rings, artichoke hearts, baby Portobello mushrooms, asparagus. They also list tofu, ravioli and sacchetti that require substitution for gluten free.

Once you select your entrée, you choose the cooking style for the fondue:

  • Seasoned Court Bouillon
  • Coq Au Vin
  • Mojo
  • Bourguignonne (European-style fondue, typically served with tempura and sesame batters, but don’t do the batters if you are gluten free!)

We decided on the shrimp and duck in a Coq Au Vin fondue. Our server was knowledgeable of the Melting Pot gluten free menu items. When you order your entrée dishes, the server will provide some dipping sauces. One of them was a Teriyaki sauce, which contains gluten. Our server was aware of this and promptly removed the sauce from our table. However, we had a nice selection of sauces—curry, yogurt, sweet and tangy, and sour cream/cream cheese blend.  They were all yummy and tasted great with the vegetable

Now if you want to do the 4-course experience, there are more entrée options that are gluten free:

  • The Classic (combination of the angus beef, Memphis-style pork medallion, shrimp, chicken breast)
  • Surf and Turf (lobster tail, filet mignon and a substitute for the mushroom sacchetti)
  • French Quarter (filet mignon, chicken breast, shrimp with Cajun spices and Andouille sausage)
  • Land and Sea (filet mignon, herb-crusted chicken, shrimp)
  • Steak Lovers (filet mignon, angus beef and a substitute for the teriyaki sirloin)
  • Fondue Fusion (lobster tail, BBQ pork medallion, duck breast, and substitute for the teriyaki sirloin and sacchetti)

Of course, the dessert course is the chocolate fondue!  However, we skipped this because, believe it or not, I don’t like chocolate. And, we were quite full at this point! I have heard the chocolate fondue is delicious!!!

What is so great about the Melting Pot is that you have control of the cooking and you can take your time.  As a Celiac, I felt safe eating there. Maybe I can coerce my girlfriends for some Ladies Night Fondue!

Seasons 52 is a national restaurant whose seasonal menu changes weekly (hence the 52, get it?) Another thing they are known for is that everything on their menu is under 475 calories. Yippee! The restaurants all have a local flavor making this a great place for a work meeting or a place for a special celebration.

Because Seasons 52 is health conscious with their calorie count, it seems only natural for the Seasons 52 Gluten Free Menu to be full of good choices. They have a special menu called ‘Gluten Sensitive Menu’ and they want to be clear with diners that while they offer gluten free dishes, they are not a gluten free kitchen facility.

I have been to the Seasons 52 Santa Monica location now several times both for lunch and dinner and feel good about giving it a solid gluten free menu review. Here’s a look at their menu.

I ordered the scallops with a side of steamed leaf spinach instead of the risotto. It was delicious, and probably more healthy too!

Overall I was very impressed with the Seasons 52 Gluten Free Menu offering. Because they are not a dedicated gluten free facility, they have done their homework and have all the proper warnings up and in place.

If you are gluten sensitive, I would give Seasons 52 my vote of confidence for your gluten free dining experience.
