Corner Bakery Gluten Free Menu

Corner Bakery is a tricky one for us gluten-free folks. So what is so tricky about the Corner Bakery Gluten Free Menu? Well, they don’t really have one.

When I went to order at Corner Bakery I asked if I could see their gluten free menu. This is what they handed to me:

The menu is from 2010 and it’s 2014. I hope they update it soon. having that said, here is what they have that is gluten free:

Corner Bakery Gluten Free Menu

Corner Bakery Gluten Free Menu -

  • Bacon
  • Fruit Medley Salad
  • Breakfast Potatoes
  • All American Scrambler with Egg Whites – No Toast
  • Anaheim Scrambler with Egg Whites – No Toast
  • Farmers Scrambler w Egg Whites – No Toast
  • Oatmeal without Sweet Crisp – Any toppings are good
  • Swiss Oatmeal without Sweet Crisp

  • Three Lentil Vegetable
  • Chicken Tortilla

Lunch / Dinner:

  • Chopped Salad
  • Santa Fe Ranch Salad
  • Mixed Greens Salad
  • Tuna Salad
  • Greek Vegetable Salad
  • DC Chicken Salad
  • Ceasar Salad – no croutons
  • Roasted Potato Salad
  • Chips
  • Carrots
  • Pickles

I ordered a cup of the chicken tortilla soup and a chopped salad. Both were good. The one thing I will note is that everything at Corner Bakery comes with a side of bread. I specifically ordered no bread, but I received a piece of bread on top of my salad when it arrived. Make sure you are extremely explicit about this when ordering.

Because Corner Bakery is a bakery with lots of baked goods, there is a high risk for cross contamination here. The location I went to even had staff that admitted this. So, if you are celiac or someone with extreme gluten sensitivity you might want to think twice before eating here.

The other thing about the menu I was unclear on is why the eggs aren’t gluten free but egg whites are. They may use flour in their batter to make the eggs fluffier. I have yet to confirm this. If you are reading this and know, please post in the comments.

Overall, Corner Bakery is not the easiest place to find gluten-free foods but they still have a gluten free menu you can look at and you should be able to grab a salad or soup or egg white dish that will be a good choice.

Sprinkles Cupcakes Gluten Free Menu

Sprinkles Cupcakes Gluten Free Red Velvet Cupcakes

Sprinkles Gluten Free Red Velvet Cupcake We are super excited to find out about Sprinkles Cupcakes Gluten Free Menu. Sprinkles has now added a gluten free red velvet cupcake to their menu. You can get a Sprinkles Gluten Free Red Velvet Cupcake any day of the week – they are baked daily unlike other flavors that are only available on certain days or have to be special ordered. I tried the Sprinkles Gluten Free Red Velvet cupcake at their Beverly Hills location. They made sure to put my gluten free red velvet cupcake in a separate bag apart from the other cupcakes I ordered which I appreciated. The gluten free cupcakes also have a G on them so you can know that you are eating a gluten free cupcake. I tried the gluten free red velvet cupcake and I was pretty impressed. It’s been years since I’ve had a cupcake or a Sprinkles one so I can’t really remember what they taste like. The icing tasted the same because the icing is gluten free naturally. The cake tasted pretty good. I did notice a bit of a chalky aftertaste, but it was very mild and the cake had a lot more taste than most gluten free cupcakes I have tried. I have not been able to find out more information on the Sprinkles gluten free cooking practices but I do know their gluten free cupcake is made using gluten free flour and the icing on the red velvet cupcake is their standard cream cheese flavored frosting. I will continue to dig for more information on this and will upload it when I find out more info. If you are looking for gluten free cupcakes for a special someone’s birthday or surprise party, I would say the Sprinkles Gluten Free Red Velvet Cupcake is a surefire winning option.

Fonuts Gluten Free Donuts

Fonuts Gluten Free Donuts

Fonuts Gluten Free Donuts

Looks like a donut. But it’s not! It’s a fonut.

I found out about Fonuts Gluten Free Donuts back in June. It was National Donut Day (happens the first Friday every June) and I realized it had been over a year since I had a donut. And it was National Donut Day. I am not even a huge fan of donuts but on that day I began craving a donut and needed to find a gluten free donut. I figured they had to exist out there somewhere!

After posting on Reddit that I wanted a gluten free donut, someone recommended that I check out Fonuts, a bakery in Los Angeles that makes gluten free donuts. I went to their website and I was in heaven. Not only did they have gluten free donuts, but they had gluten free donuts in multiple flavors not just the standard “gluten free version” in one or maybe two flavors. They really covered their bases on this one.

My search for a gluten free donut also happened around the time Amazon Fresh began delivering to the Los Angeles area. And guess who happened to be an LA Spotlight on Amazon Fresh? Yep, Fonuts. It was a beautiful sign that I was meant to try these gluten free donuts because as much as I wanted to, I wasn’t really up to driving 45 minutes to an hour to check out  the Fonuts Bakery. I bought a half dozen pack of Fonuts and it cost $18. More expensive than the average donut? Yes. But well worth it to satisfy that craving.

The gluten free donuts by Fonuts come in all sorts of flavors. Here are the current gluten free donut flavors (as of 10/13/13):

  • Peanut Butter Chocolate
  • Vanilla Latte
  • Banana Cinnamon
  • Chocolate Hazelnut
  • Pumpkin
  • Lemon
  • Coconut Passion Fruit
  • Chocolate Coconut
  • Chocolate with sprinkles (pictured above)
  • Banana latte

I have tasted the peanut butter chocolate, vanilla latte, chocolate coconut, chocolate with sprinkles, banana latte, and the chocolate coconut. I have to admit my favorite is the vanilla latte one. The frosting on it has a really good taste to it. Fonuts makes all of their gluten free donuts using almond flour. They also have vegan donuts if that is your thing.

While the Fonuts gluten free donuts are made using almond flour, they do post the following disclaimer on their website:

“All Gluten Free and Vegan Fonuts contain Almond flour and are made on premises which contain nuts, dairy, flour and other products containing gluten. We are not Gluten Free Certified, however we take the utmost care in preventing cross contamination.”

The c0-owner of Fonuts,  Waylynn Lucas, is on a reality tv show right now called “Eat Drink Love” so even if you don’t live in Los Angeles you may have heard of this bakery before. They currently only offer delivery in LA through Amazon Fresh or by calling ahead and picking up at the store.
