Not only does Pizza Cookery offer gluten free menu choices, but, they take pride in doing it right.  Please note that there are other Pizza Cookery locations that have split from this original’s chain and may or may not offer the same high quality gluten free menu options. Applebee’s started with the same philosophy they follow today – focused on serving good food to good people. Today, what was once a popular neighborhood restaurant has grown to become a popular restaurant in neighborhoods all across North America – with almost 2,000 locations and counting. Who doesn’t know Chili’s? It’s everywhere, has food to please a wide variety of people, and is decently priced. The main question here is – what’s there for the gluten free eater? Well, their gluten free menu is slim, but, there are some tasty choices available, and you’ll definitely be able to get a full gluten free meal if you choose well. Always specify the need for gluten free and don’t be afraid to ask questions!

Outback Steakhouse is an Australian themed steakhouse restaurant. Although beef and steak items make up a good portion of the menu, the concept offers a variety of chicken, ribs, seafood, and pasta dishes. Outback offers a pretty decent gluten free menu selection, you just need to know what to ask for! There’s a wide variety of gluten free entree choices, and some great sides and salads available.

Pick Up Stix – Gluten Free Menu

Pick Up Stix is quick casual Asian influenced dining with more than 70 locations in California. Pick Up Stix, like many Asian dining options, uses soy sauce in a lot of their dishes. While they do not have a gluten free soy sauce option, there are a couple things on the menu that are listed as gluten free. You won’t have a large selection, but stick with these basics and make sure to specify that you need it gluten free. From all accounts some locations seem to be more accommodating than others on assuring this.

Oh gluten free life, how lovely you are. My joints don’t ache, my skin looks better, I feel fantastic…but, every once and awhile a donut sounds mighty tasty. So, what’s a gluten free eater to do? Dunkin’ Donuts has heard our call and is promising a donut AND a muffin in the near future!

At Dunkin’ Donuts, we recognize the importance of providing our guests with many options, including alternative choices for people with food and dietary restrictions, and we’re always exploring a wide variety of products to meet these needs. Later this year, we are planning to introduce a certified gluten-free Cinnamon Sugar Donut and gluten-free Blueberry Muffin to meet the needs of our guests who are looking for gluten-free bakery items.

Despite digging and digging, I can’t find if they are available yet, or not.

Beginning later this year, participating U.S. Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants will have the option to offer certified gluten-free bakery products, including a new gluten-free Cinnamon Sugar Donut and a gluten-free Blueberry Muffin. Our culinary and commercialization teams have worked very hard to create these new gluten-free menu items to be just as delicious as all of our product offerings. It took a great deal of experimentation to come up with the correct, unique blend of rice flours and certain starches such as potato and tapioca to replace traditional wheat flour.

The Dunkin’ Donuts’ gluten-free Cinnamon Sugar Donut is an old-fashioned cake donut coated with cinnamon sugar and the gluten-free Blueberry Muffin features all of the best attributes of Dunkin’ Donuts’ classic blueberry muffin, including being topped with our signature crunchy baking sugar. I’m excited to say both of our gluten-free items are delicious and more importantly, customers in our test markets have told us they are too.

Sounds good, right? And this is even better -

Both items are certified gluten-free by the Gluten Free Certification Organization, prepared in a dedicated facility and individually packaged to avoid cross contamination. The suggested retail price for the gluten-free Cinnamon Sugar Donut is $1.89 and $2.39 for the gluten-free Blueberry Muffin.

So, what does this mean?

As of right now, I can’t say if they are IN stores. I have an email in to them. I’ve made inquiries to friends. I’m ready to call Monday morning. But, for now, we will dream of donuts.

Yard House – Gluten Free Menu

The Yard House is a bar and grill with multiple locations throughout Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Massachusetts, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington. The restaurant took its name from the 3-foot-tall glass containers originally designed in Great Britain and used to hand stagecoach drivers after a long journey by horse drawn carriage. Each Yard House location features a center island bar and an endless fleet of tap handles ranging from classic lagers to more obscure ales. Awesome for beer drinkers, but, is there a gluten free menu for those of us that are gluten free? Yes and no. They do feature ciders, and a couple of bottled gluten free beers, but, their menu comes with a warning for those of us keeping gluten free.

With a word like ‘bread’, right in the name, what are the chances you’ll find a good gluten free meal here? You have some awesome salad choices (hold the croutons) and, if you’re hip to the “Hidden Menu” your chances are great!

Olive Garden Gluten Free Menu

Once upon a time I thought Olive Garden was the epitome of  good food. I’ll admit a certain weakness for it still, but, these days, most of the things I loved (oh hello endless breadsticks!) are off limits with my gluten free lifestyle. But, somehow, Olive Garden happens. Work lunches, group events and all the sudden there you are in gluten Heaven. So, what’s a gluten free eater to do?

Never fear! There is a (small) gluten free menu with a couple of decent choices just for us.

2 salads – make sure to specify gluten free/no croutons are available, the Olive Garden Signature Endless Salad, and the Caesar salad.

You’ll find yourself with 6 gluten free entree choices, and two children’s meal gluten free choices.

  1. Penne Rigate Pomodoro
    Roma tomatoes, garlic, fresh basil, extra-virgin olive oil and marinara sauce tossed with gluten free penne pasta. Also available with grilled chicken or shrimp.
  2. Penne Rigate with Marinara
    Marinara sauce made with a blend of tomatoes, onions and Italian herbs. Served over gluten free penne pasta. Also available with grilled chicken or shrimp.
  3. Steak Toscano
    Grilled 12 oz choice center cut Strip steak brushed with Italian herbs and extra-virgin olive oil. Served with grilled vegetables.

We therefore make no guarantees regarding the gluten content of these items.” I’ve had gluten free friends with Celiac’s, as well as gluten free by choice friends eat here successfully, but, as with anything, your mileage may vary. I suggest stressing nicely, and politely to your server that it’s an allergy and that you meal must be gluten free.
